3 core vs 4 core radiator

degree wise, how much cooler would a 4 core radiator be over a 3 core ? I have a 3 core now and was thinking of going to a 4 core since I'd like to see my car run cooler.

Doesn't really work like that. The thermostat controls the temperature for the most part, as long as the cooling system has the capacity to dissipate the heat. For example, you have a 180 stat and the car runs at 200, a 160 stat isnt going to help any. Proper airflow and a shroud and fans will probably make a bigger difference unless the engine is very radical. Also depends on aluminum or copper/brass. A reputable 2 core aluminum should cool just about anything. A little more info on the engine and vehicle might help.

347 forged, victor jr heads, victor intake, crane blower cam, vortech ysi.I had a 2 core but runs cooler with the 3 core, dual electric fans with manual switch, always am running the fans,c4 auto,160 degree thermostat.it got as high as 220 sitting, not moving,i'm probably more freaked out than I should be.my main concern is run ning too hot and damaging the heads.

dual electric from a svt contour supposed to be about 3300 cfm, both fans work and are on high speed.no blockage in front of radiator and i run straight water and water wetter.radiator cap is 16psi.also a new waterpump.

Maybe try the 180 stat. May hold water in the engine and radiator longer to pull more heat away

it goes down to around 200,but I don't take this car out often and usually at night when traffic is light.i'll take it out for longer cruise and check the temp.its just that when I'm stopped it goes up pretty quickly!

mechanical hi flow with hi flow thermostat.correct me if I'm wrong but if the timing is retarded for supercharger won't this run hotter than timing being advanced.some sited suggest that running up to 220 might be ok.maybe I'm concerned for nothing since nothing has happened yet.

Yes, retarted timing will make it hotter. are you running a boost reference timing system, or just driving around with the timing laid back?
