I googled the part # and it comes up for 86-97 mustang do the 98 have a different style tank

98 Was a different animal.....are you using a 98 computer??? The 98 had a variable voltage pump,so your normal walbro gss340/gss342 don't work,if your using the 98 computer setup the focus or aviator pump seems to work

The car is a project my son and I did. The car was originally a 98 V6 car. He had a 92 coupe that the floors and frame under the shock tower rusted out so we swapped everything to the 98 and used a complete harness from a 95. We didn't change the tank.

If car has stock 98 tank it should look like this......which won't work easily


Best bet would be to buy a pre 98 tank and sending unit from someone locally,im sure someone has one laying around

Im thinking I will just take the sending unit apart and replace the pump and it should be good.
