2016 Focus RS

X2 Something about being in a decent car thats 100% working order that was under $2000 give me a halfy

Yep, and cheap insurance, and not giving a fuck if some soccer mom pops it with a shopping cart. When I had the Caprice wagon, I was always the asshole cutting a path through a crowded parking lot. You can't do that shit in a nice car

For those talking about price and competition, consider the below:

2015 Subaru WRX STI - Base MSRP: $34,495 Power: 305/290
2015 Audi S3 - Base MSRP: $41,100 Power: 292/280
2015 VW Golf R - Base MSRP: $36,595 Power: 292/280

As much as we would all love to see this thing listed for less than $30,000, it isn't going to happen. Without incentives, you can easily get a Focus ST to around $30,000 after options and trim level upgrades.

Pretty much spot on. A friend of mine is an analyst and we were talking about this on Wednesday. Here is what he said:
The starting price will depend on the level of standard equipment. The ST can clear $30k. Will there be option packages with the RS, or will it's base spec be more like the ST2 or ST3? The torque-vectoring AWD system alone adds at least $3k. Larger engine $1k even before additional upgrades. Adaptive dampers (standard?) $1k. Low volume and European sourcing (did I read this?) would also add cost. I'm thinking the lowest it'll start is $35k. Fully optioned maybe $40k.

Problem is, even "beaters" are getting pretty expensive!

Very true. I remember back when I was in high school, you could find all kinds of running/driving cars for $500. $2000 is the new $500

I did leave the CLA45 AMG out of it because of the higher MSRP.)

I went to compare this to the A45 initially and then looked up the price of that thing, holy fuck, are people actually buying those fucking things for $80,000!?!?! $80,000 for those stupid things, that's ridiculous. They should have people someone taking anyone that walks into buy one of those and locking them in a padded room.

I still hope the RS has the well in excess of 320 HP I have seen reported because I stand by my position that for me to really care about the RS it needs to rival the A45's HP, even if the RS is half the price or less.

I love the car because it reminds me of the old school Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 or the Ford Sierra Sapphire RS Cosworth. Love those cars and wish I could import them here to US. So when the Focus RS comes out I might look into it.

1989 and older can be imported... just have to find a clean one.

Also, whoever mentioned it... these will be built in the EU Focus plant. We don't have room for the added complexity at the Michigan plant

Yeah, it's bad. I just don't get what they were thinking with that thing.

I'd like to see over 320+, and that would be awesome if they could pull that off and still keep it around $35,000. With the lower end interior compared to the others, it would be a nice offset to the others for the time being. I still really hope that Subaru comes up with a better solution than what they offered in 2004 through today. VAG I've been impressed with their new engine, but they skipped the multiport injection for the US market even though EU has it, so that's a bummer. Otherwise an S3 would be awesome, IMO.

Hopefully this makes Subaru step up their game. With the Evo gone, I am sure they thought the same car would just continue to sell. Hopefully between this and the Dart they step up their game. 300hp isn't what it was in 2004.

A UK article I saw said it was going to be right about 30k Euro. So hopefully it stays right around there if it is right. Is it coming out this year though or next?

Heres a lesson in culture, that article it's from the UK and the price indicates the pound, not the euro. There's a significant difference. particularly related to exchange rates, as the pound is worth more than a euro (and dollar).

^ I didnt catch the pound. thanks. Obviously i saw the UK thing. That being said that puts it at like $45k USD, lol i hope that is wrong
