2014 Detroit Tigers Thread

The decision of the new season appears to be completed. It looks like the Tigers have hired former catcher Brad Ausmus to be their new manager. I'm a little surprised. I figured they'd hire Lloyd McClendon and keep most of the old staff.

I figured they'd hire someone who managed before at the big league level. They obviously have forgotten more about baseball than I know. I'll take the wait and see on this one until I see how the final roster looks.

I thought that was Dombrowski's requirement. I'll bet Brookens stays on the coaching staff, as well as Jeff Jones. As for the others, it will be interesting to watch.

Great hire , he has a high baseball iq and from everything I read he is a great leader . Tired of re treads im glad they got new blood

The Tigers need a bullpen. Even Benoit most likely won't be resigned. To me, the big question is 2B. I think they should sign Infante for another couple years.

Not sure about our new manager, but willing to give him a chance. Our record with ex-players as manager isn't all that hot.

HE GONE!!! we fill one of 3 glaring needs while freeing up money to keep all our current players including signing scherzer.

Awesome! Move Miggy back to first, maybe sign Jhonny P and move him over to third? Who cares Prince is gone, everything else is just little details!

I like the trade. Nice to see that Detroit is making some positive changes.....Cabrera will be better off at 1st anyway.

ESPN says less than 50 Million(seen 30 Mil on NBC site) going to Texas. What's that make him for them a 15 Million dollar a year player? Prince was still owed 168 Million, not a real bad deal for Texas with the money coming back.(depending on what they're actually getting back)

Fielder has a limited no-trade clause, though I hear he's willing to wave it. Easier to find a LF than a 2B. Costellanos will be at 3B. It's his spot to lose...

Scherzer rejects "Handsome" deal from Tigers for long term extension. He better hope he puts up last years numbers or he's going to wish he took it. Wonder if he really wants to stay a Tiger even though he not said he doesn't.
