2014 - 15 Lions Discussion Thread

If he leaves, his talent on the field will be missed, but I'm not gonna miss his habitual jackassery. And that contract - yikes.

x 2. If he could have just kept his nose clean and play without stupid incidents. But clearly he's pulling a LeBron and taking his talents to south beach.

Whats the over & under on how long before Suh;
1. Wrecks another Chevelle.
2. Steps on someone.
3. Is caught with females of ill repute?

You forgot busted for cocaine and wrecking his Lamborghini

I don't think he gave a shit about the first three or four years he was with Lions but only tried on the last year because he knew he was going to get paid with the new contract....

Let's see what all of this cost the Lions.

While we have a moment, let's tally what the Lions paid to lose and replace Suh. First, they will absorb $9.7 million in dead money against their 2015 salary cap. Next, they sent their fourth- and fifth-round draft picks to the Baltimore Ravensfor Suh's replacement, Haloti Ngata. They'll pay Ngata $8.5 million in the final year of his contract and either need to extend his deal or risk losing him after one year. The Ravens sent Detroit a seventh-round draft choice to complete the deal, and the Lions will probably get a 2016 compensatory draft pick as well. So in total, the Lions lost one of the NFL's best players, gave up two draft choices and will devote $18.2 million in 2015 cap space to the position in exchange for a declining (but still productive) player and a likely compensatory draft pick plus another throwaway choice. That's paying a premium to correct a mistake.

I'm thinking Suh didn't want to be back in Detroit or Mayhew really sucks at his job.

Can't say I'm broken up about Fairley either. Prone to injury and idiocy.

Chucklehead quotient and talent level of the D dropped significantly this week.

Only Haloti Ngata admittedly adderall last season and was suspended 4 games for it. So you add some chucklehead right back in.

Whats funny is with the 8.5 mil they spent on Ngata, and they money they still have on the cap for Suh next season, they could have franchised Suh and had a better player for the same price, as well as kept their 3rd and 4th round picks. Typical Lions.

Would much rather have a guy that got busted for a mediocre stimulant on the football field than someone caught driving 100 mph in an Escalade with an open container that failed field sobriety tests and refused to take a breathalyzer. Significantly different levels of idiocy.

While I would agree with you the losing Suh and Fairley certainly reduces the amount of idiocy both on and off the field, how many games did he miss because of that? Zero.

Which is why I said prone to injury and idiocy. He clearly has a lot of talent, but not worth shelling out for if you get more 8-10 game seasons, compounded by the threat of him doing something stupid off the field. Don't forget, the above incident came a month after he got arrested for possession. Not the brightest bulb.

Suh was suspended for the last game of the regular season this year for stepping on folks. A non drug induced issue of idiocy.

OMG adderall!! I'm not expecting them to do much better this year, even though i'm a Lions fan. Like you said, we never seem to pick up the players we need to be successful.
