2013 Ford Focus ST Review

Good review, I agree with about everything you said....I did buy one, and drive it everyday. I drive 45 miles EACH way to work and this car is perfect for that. being that I am someone who still wants a little performance in my DD. I can get this car to do what ever I want it to with ease, and can control it any way I want to. It is not the fastest car on the road, but it holds its own very well!!! I bought the "ST1" which is the base package and does not have the recaro seats....I prefer this, as I spend so much time in the car, I dont want to feel cramped. The sounds it makes is great with the engine noise pumped in the cabin. This car handles with the best of them in its range. It grips and grips, but when it finally lets go, you get a really nice tail slide from it...(yes, FWD will tail slide).

The only negatives I have found are wheel hop under hard acceleration, and torque steer something terrible. The wheel hop can easily be fixed with a new lower motor mount...I will be doing this soon!....
 
I looked at this car when I was shopping a few months ago. City driving in Atlanta blows donkey nuts. I had a 2010 Focus and enjoyed it for what it was, but wanted something enjoyable to drive to and from work (26 miles each way). Where I really lost interest in this was the cost. a near 30k economy car with pep just didn't ring as worth the coin. The fuel economy is nice, but I just couldn't see spending nearly 30k on a Focus. I ended up with a 2013 Charger R/T which was at steep discounts (9k off). I paid about 3 grand more for my Charger R/T than I would have for the Focus (using friends/family discount with Chrysler or X plan with Ford). I got a much larger vehicle, more sturdy feel to the build and a whole lot more HP. My Fuel Economy on the Charger in mixed driving is just below 20 MPG. That's really the only disadvantage. For someone who doesn't have to deal with traffic or kids car seats or being 6 foot 3 and having a 5'11" wife the Focus probably is a much better option. I just personally didn't see the value or bonus.
