Yeah, I drove it, just doesn't feel solid, suspension was noisy, etc. Just not a car I would ever think of buyingWait till you drive one... you'll dislike it even more!

My Dad made his money at GM for alot of years. I've been loyal to GM forever. My wife had a 2003 Olds Shillouette that had a terrible piston slap that under warranty GM refused to do anything about. Replaced that piece of shit with a 2006 Impala SS that with 70,000 miles is now burning oil after impectable maintance and no abuse. Again, according to GM, there telling me too fuckin bad. Let alone half of the options on both of these cars no longer work. I'm tired of getting beat to death with there pieces of shit. I'm at least as patriotic as the next guy and want nothing more than to buy american, but I'm not sure how much more of this crap I can take.
We have one at the shop. It is nice, but after driving it around I wouldnt pay what they go for brand new. It does have a lot of nice features and all that, but the FWD leaves something to be desired.[/QUOTE
Who makes something RWD in the same price range and class?
The SS should have the 5.3L, did you buy it brand new? LSX engines usually don't burn any more oil than normal until 150k+ with proper maintenance. My stock one had 86k miles on it and literally 100+ bottles of nitrous with no abnormal oil consumption. Sorry about your luck, I had the same shit happen to me in my '08 Malibu.
Yea it's the 5.3L. From what I understand the problem is the displacement on demand that drops it down to 4 cyls. I've contacted Livernois and Vector this week about getting it disabled. It will belch out a nice huff of blue smoke when it goes from 4 to 8 cylinders. Evidently when it cuts out cylinders its not random and does not keep the cylinders clean, eventually clogging the oil rings. It sounds like if its disabled soon enough it wont cause any permanent damage. If I have to re-ring this motor at 70g I'm going to be pissed! Other than that and the cd player and the rear defog dont work, its a decent car. After the problems I've had lately with GM cars, and especially there refusal to fix problems that they know are there fault, I doubt that I will buy another one for a long time.
Do the transmission shit the bed on those cars? I wanted an Impala SS so bad but I just figured I would have issues with the DoD and the transmission.

I looked at a 2012 malibu today, 500 miles on it, I was not impressed with fit/finish, front fascia didn't line up with the fenders, trim parts inside had uneven gaps for the entire length
difference is the jap car companys dont pay there workers shit
That's because it's a fucking monkey's job and people shouldn't be paid $20+/hr to do it. They know better than to deal with greedy, good-for-nothing-but-raising-the-prices-on-all-products-and-running-manufacturing-jobs-overseas unions.
I know I wouldn't want to pay a person who doesn't even bother trying to use proper grammar and spelling to do a job that they'll probably put just as little effort into as well.
Oh, and your bigotry/racism hasn't gone unnoticed. You don't help the cause at all. You seem like the stereotypical union worker.
How dare you!?
There are members on here that work at the company that makes those things. Your money should be their money... well it kind of already is since you and I and everyone gave them a bundle to build a car that you are not pleased with. I find it funny that because they work there you should blindly hand over your money to them. But on the other hand if you bought a "piece of crap foreign car" you would also help keep me and other members on the board in a job because we deal with the foreign car companies also.
We all did hand them our money, and they still haven't paid it all back.
Because it was wrong, and will likely be immortalized.
