2011 LOLions predictions

Here's my prediction after watching the useless preseason games and kind of knowing how other are gonna be.

Sept. 11 - at Tampa Bay Buccaneers -Win
Sept. 18 - vs. Kansas City Chiefs -Win
Sept. 25 - at Minnesota Vikings -Win
Oct. 2 - at Dallas Cowboys -Loss
Oct. 10 - vs. Chicago Bears -Win
Oct. 16 - vs. San Francisco 49ers -Win
Oct. 23 - vs. Atlanta Falcons -Loss
Oct. 30 - at Denver Broncos -Win
Nov. 6 - BYE
Nov. 13 - at Chicago Bears -Loss
Nov. 20 - vs. Carolina Panthers -Win
Nov. 24 (Thanksgiving) - vs. Green Bay Packers -Loss
Dec. 4 - at New Orleans Saints -Loss
Dec. 11 - vs. Minnesota Vikings -Win
Dec. 18 - at Oakland Raiders -Win
Dec. 24 - vs. San Diego Chargers -Loss
Jan. 1 - at Green Bay Packers -Loss

9-7 and just miss the playoffs. Stafford plays 14 games, but is injured early against the Chargers and playoff hopes are killed.

6-2 at the break just as I predicted. Swap the 49ers & Cowboys games and I'm perfect. We'll see about the second half, its alot tougher schedule than the 1st half.

Currently have a better record than the:

New England Patriots
New York Jets
Baltimore Ravens
Chicago Bears
Dallas Cowboys
San Diego Chargers
Philadelphia Eagles
New Orleans Saints
Atlanta Falcons

Yeah. Haters gon' hate.

Detroit Lions Branded “Bad Boys” of NFL
Much like its hometown namesake, the Detroit Lions are quickly becoming a gritty, grinding, hard working franchise. Much of that development has been due to the revamped front office and their top-notch personnel picks. Unfortunately, the rest of the league seems to be afraid of the Lions' resurgence. They have tried, time and again, to quell the team's success but the gutsy Honolulu Blue and Silver continue to persevere. That is the mark of a champion.

This season, Detroit has had a plethora of situations to deal with. From the Atlanta Falcons' and Denver Broncos' accusations of trash talking and taunting to the rash of NFL fines and penalties on defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh(notes), the Lions have been given the unfair moniker of being the NFL's new "Bad Boys." Though it may not be the sweetest of reputations, this Lions' fan, in particular, feels the team should embrace the notion and run with it.

Much like the Raiders of the past decades, Detroit is the new team to be feared. Their defensive line is stellar. They have an offense capable, when healthy, of destroying most of the league's opposing defenses. They also have a head coach who is unwilling to take any flack from those who choose to disrespect the organization, much as San Francisco coach Jim Harbaugh found out in Week 6.

The NFL has begun "dumbing down" the game, with its rash of penalizations and unclear rules regarding hits and personal fouls. Though the concussion situation is a worthy topic of discussion, there is a point in which it can be taken too far. That is precisely where the league is at, using newfound and unclear rules to penalize a player like Suh, who just happens to be bigger, faster and stronger than the majority of the leagues' athletes. There is no question he hits like a runaway freight train. That, in itself, doesn't give cause to be penalized and/or fined.

Reggie White and Derrick Thomas were nasty, in their time. Were they ever accused of being dirty? No. Terrell Owens(notes) and Randy Moss(notes) are some of the best trash talkers in the league's history. Were they ever called out the way the Lions players have been? No, not to this level of scrutiny. That is where we are in this day and age of NFL football.

The league cannot stand to see teams like New England, Dallas and New York falling by the wayside, with lackluster play and limited headlines, while teams like Detroit and Buffalo garner more national press and success. It's business, pure and simple.

For Detroit, the fire and commitment they have been showing is, likewise, "just business." This is the new Detroit Lions and this is how we do things. Forget about complaints over taunting or overzealous hits. This is a hard-hitting, elite professional sport. You knew what you signed up for when you entered the draft.

The Lions are tough, gutsy and have a winning attitude. That is who they are and who they will continue to be. If the league wants them "put into place," send a team to stop them from entering the playoffs. With the way they are improving from week-to-week and the plausible return of their running game and injured starters, I say good luck in finding one.
:badass:

If we get by the Bears and Panthers and roll into Thanksgiving 8-2, I have a feeling it's going to be one of the most anticipated and most watched Lions Thanksgiving games of all time. Lions have one of - if not THE - top pass defenses in the league, and it will be very interesting to see us clash against Rodgers....

Good article, but it's not like the Lion's are the only ones getting fined (Suh). See also James Harrison.

Props for Suh though for trying to get to the root of the problem. Harrison just has the 'Haters gonna hate' attitude.

The media made a big deal about the Lions players tebowing and mocking/taunting Tebow.

Well, on 3rd and 2 San Diego stopped Green Bay just inside 2 minutes to force a punt. One of the Chargers players did Rodgers' stupid belt celebration. We better have to hear about that all week from the media since they made such a big deal about the Lions tebowing because it is no different.

For a million dollars, we could of had Michael Vick instead of that 4 time pass intercepting ass wipe, Stafford!
And what a pussy move, trying to tare DJ Moore's head off and then cowering down like a little bitch when Moore went after him.

I'm right at my 6-3 prediction so far. Should beat Carolina handily and Thanksgiving is looking to be a HUGE game.

Yeah, we definitely should have grabbed Vick. I mean look at the Eagles, they are rolling at 3-6, he's thrown 400 less yards, has a lower passer rating and has 9 fewer touchdowns with 3 more interceptions than Stafford.

Worst comparison ever.

Stafford is a joke. Not sure who's the bigger joke, Stafford or Denard Robinson.

The Lions lost to the Bears but the score makes it look worse than it was. Those first two fumbles were pretty random. But 4 interceptions? Give me a fucking break. The defense did a pretty good job, the offense gave up almost all the points.

What planet do you live on? Stafford is a joke? God, bandwagon fans are the worst. You really don't know what you are talking about.

Was yesterday horrible? Yes. However, prior to yesterday (at the halfway point of the season) he had 19 TDs and 4 INTs and 2200 yards. By ANYBODY'S standards, those are VERY good numbers. The guy has one (very) bad game and you bandwagon fools start throwing in the towel. Do the real fans a favor and hop off the bandwagon and stay off.

I hope they only win one more game for the rest of the season. I've got a couple bets going here at work that they won't win 8. I'd love for them to be in EVERY game up until the end. :)

I've had complaints about him all season. I'm not a 'bandwagon' fan and other than the turnovers they played fine yesterday. Saying stafford 'sucks' might be a stretch but is anyone seriously impressed by anything he's ever done (other than throwing one bomb) ? He can't lead the team (he's proved that), he can't hustle when the clock is running out, he can't do shit when the pass rush is after him, and he can't run. He has a strong arm and that's about it.

Good stats don't make a good player, this isn't a video game.

Not a leader? Did you not see him run away from the coaches where trying to keep him out of the game so he could win the game against the Browns when he had a seperated shoulder? The only time you've posted in this thread is after the loss to SF and the loss to the Bears.

Green Bay and New Orleans will probably be the only 3 games they lose for the rest of the year, unless an injury or something comes along.

Reason why he has thrown less is because the Lions don't have a running game! Matt's got to take the ball from the shot gun position and throw it in order to complete a play!
Vick would of cost us a million dollars.. with a 3-6 record, I wouldn't be bitching so bad...
Stafford costing us SEVEN MILLION a year for the next 6 years!
For that kind of money, I'd hope he'd have a better record then 14/27 (?) and I think he even missed out on a handful of games.

There's a reason for all of that.
- He cost that much because he was the #1 overall pick
- The way you get the #1 overall pick is by being the worst team in the league. Of course things were going to suck the first few years... they have improved every year.
- Going from 0-16 to making the playoffs (if they can win about 4 more games, they should) in 3 years is pretty good progress

Stafford throws an interception not even one minute into the game. At least the Lions got the ball right back.
