2011 LOLions predictions

Every year it's the same damn thing. Everyone drinks the koolaid and talks about how much better they are, but then it's the same result. I'm a Lions fan, but I won't predict any winning seasons or buy any tickets until they do something other than talk about winning.

9-7 with a chance at the Wildcard. Defense will be improved. We'd better make sure our back-up QB is solid!

Yeah, Drew Stanton, good luck.

11 wins?? 5 Losses?? The DETROIT Lions? I thought I was over-the-top optomistic at 9-7.
For that kind of record, we'd have to dust off Wayne Fonts...

So Dan, are we going to make our steak bet? Lions vs Pats record? Lions vs the Playoffs...? STEAK!!!

ALLEN PARK — Most Lions’ fans don’t know what they’re missing with rookie running back Mikel Leshoure out for the season after tearing an Achilles’ on Monday.

Leshoure’s teammates and coaches know. They’ve seen enough of him in nine days of training camp to realize he would have added a powerful new dimension to the running game this season.

“I’ve never seen a back who was 235 who had the agility he had. I never saw a back his size who could catch the way he could catch. He’s the total package, I tip my hat to him, he’s the total package,’’ veteran running back Maurice Morris said.

Leshoure found an immediate fit in the Lions’ offense.

He was having an excellent camp when on a routine team contact drill, he was carrying the ball and then looked like he was using his left leg to brace himself on a hit from Cliff Avril. He crumpled to the turf and was carted off.

Coach Jim Schwartz said he knew immediately that it was an Achilles’.

“He’ll be back, he won’t be back this year. He was doing very well,’’ Schwartz said.

The Lions moved up in April’s draft to nab Leshoure, who played at Illinois, with a second-round pick.

“He was doing very well, not only running the football, but in the passing game, as a protector and special teams. He really made a good impression,’’ Schwartz said. “There’s a reason we traded up and were very excited about getting him. We still feel very strongly about him and, like I said, he’ll be back, it just won’t be this season.’’

Leshoure will have surgery, possibly as early as today

Fuckin' Honolulu blue kryptonite. There's 2 aspects of the Lions that make me laugh my ass off.

1. EVERY game, someone on the opposing team who isn't a superstar will have "the game of their life". It's inevitible. An announcer at some point will says "xxx is having the game of their life".
2. How many players have left the Lions and turned out to be really good players? Not all of them, but it seems like a very disproportionate amount of players who get traded away after sucking for a few years at the Lions end up being really good players elsewhere.

So what, 3 of the Lions draft picks are out injured? One for the entire season? The injury bug and the collapse has always started, and they havent even played a single down.
