The 2008 Mustang Cobra Jet - built to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the iconic 1968 Mustang Cobra Jet pioneered by Tasca Ford, and offered to connect with today's Ford sportsman drag racers even stronger. The FR500CJ is the second purpose-built, turn-key race car engineered, developed, built, and sold through Ford dealers by Ford Racing, only a limited number of FR500CJ drag cars were built. True to the 1968 Cobra Jet, a total of only 50 copies of the car were made, and all 50 were sold within 10 days. Built with the serious drag racer in mind, along with its striking Cobra Jet graphics, the Cobra Jet features the Supercharged 5.4 Cobra Jet engine, Cobra Jet cold air kit, Cobra Jet throttle body, air conditioning and rear seat delete, crankshaft damper, Cobra Jet bellhousing, 6-speed manual (or 3-speed automatic) transmission with SFI bellhousing, stainless steel long-tube racing headers, 9" rear axle assembly, one piece driveshaft drive shaft, single hoop drive shaft loop, Cobra Jet rear control arms and anti-roll bar, Ford Racing adjustable dampers, drag race spring kit, and unique Cobra Jet wheels. Inside are a 5" Cobra Jet IP-mounted pedestal tachometer, a full complement of Ford Racing performance gauges, a short-throw shifter, and Cobra Jet seat package. Completing the package are a safety cage and safety harnesses.

Factory-built Cobra Jets will feature a supercharged 5.4L V-8 producing 400 hp and mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, Engine enhancements include the deletion of the A/C and the addition of a cold air intake, bigger throttle body, a crankshaft dampener and long-tube stainless-steel headers. Underneath, the car will feature a one-piece driveshaft, a single-hoop driveshaft loop, a nine-inch rear axle, special rear control arms and anti-roll bar, Ford Racing adjustable dampeners and a drag race spring kit. Each will be fitted with a wheel and tire combination suited to drag racing and will weight about 3,300 lbs. The Cobra Jet is NHRA legal to 10.00 second ETs and has an NHRA Stock Eliminator-legal interior. The showcar features a unique trim and appearance package, as well as optional 2008 Cobra Jet graphics. Ford expects the Cobra Jet to run in the 10 second range right off the trailer.
 
I called you earlier to try and buy one of these, but sadly you hung up. Oh well, looks like I will have to buy something else.
 
How did you "get your hands on another one". I thought all 50 were sold. So is this a "used" vehicle. Meaning, while it still might have next to no miles, it was already purchased new then sold to Varsity??

Or give old RM Auctions a call (in Ypsi) and have them auction it off.

Nahhhh. It's priced to sell. We aren't looking to make a killing off these cars. My Uncle is a racer and would rather see someone making passes in it. Not letting it sit in a bubble.

No, here is the short story.

All 50 were sold to dealers. These cars were purchased buy another Ford dealer for resale. That Ford dealer had to sell them, because of some $$$ issues. The cars were never sold to customers. We bought them from that dealer.
