2008-2010 Ford Explorer questions

Hey Guys,

Looking at a 2008 Explorer 4.0 with 4x4 when we were testing drive it if the 4x4 is engaged it clunks when turning. The salesman of course said they all do that and its normal for those trucks. I have had a few 4x4's that never did that. Also asked a friend that has an F150.

Is this truck going to need the hub replaced perhaps? Anyone have personal experience with these trucks? things to watch out for?
 
Its normal on any 4x4 Ford I have had.

Same here. I used to have to test 4wd on a circle to make sure they worked and the way I knew they worked was the awful vibration and noise when turning.
 
Thanks guys, I just wanted to make sure they salesman wasn't just throwing me a line. I couldn't recall if my Durango did that or not.

It didn't help when I called a Ford dealer they said it probably needs a new hub!
