We wont be able to party as good in hotels IMO. The state park is a good place as long as people can behave. I would pick different spots this time around though. discuss..

I think we'll have a good time if we camp in tents again!! If we stay the same place, no where near the ranger station!! lol

I was thinking the same row, same side (with forest behind) but get the last however-many spots at the very end.

i'll party with you guys at the camp site, but my ass is getting a hotel this year to sleep in...:effyocouc
and my car will be there for sure this year...:flashboob

Red is where we were. Green is where the ranger station is. Yellow is what I was thinking.

lol frank u slept on afreaking monster air mattress there is no way you wern't comfortable..except the whole going flat part, and us taking your tent down on ya haha

If I go next year it'll have to be a hotel, we stayed at the best western in Mackinac City one year. It was right on the beach and we partied pretty good.

I might not have my camaro by then but I'd like to go to that show next year. Camping works for me, I have all the necessary gear.

I just spent this past weekend at the KOA in Port Huron and Katy and I were discussing the options and the idea of starting to prepare for next years event. In all honesty, the state park would be nice, but I think avoiding that entire front section is necessary. We could get in line now and reserve the back 3 or 4 spots that are right along the straits. John, we need to narrow down who is coming early this year and let anyone else fend for themself. I'm down for a full week if not longer as I know you were saying you wanted to do a full week. If we did do KOA or something like that, the nice thing is that there's cabin's you can rent that are just as expensive as the hotels, but they have air conditioners/heaters, and those of us that want to party in a tent can still do so. That way everyone would be together and still have the option of having a bed/heated/cooled room. Just an idea. Another nice thing is at KOA we can rent golf carts and destroy them! LOL

Unfortunately tents aren't air conditioned and don't come with equipped with running water, an ice machine, a mini refrigerator, or a comfy bed.

Considering the preceding criteria I would respectfully propose hotel accommodations.

I dunno about air conditioning, but the heater i brought sweated me outta my tent haha I'm a camping PIMPPPPPPPPPPP

You like perspiring in a tent in the summer heat? Fuck that. My idea of camping is to hang out at the camp site drinking beer around the fire and then when the bugs start to get bad head back to the hotel. That's what I've done several times. :)

Not sure about all that. We had a fridge and our tent was climate controlled (for heat). 3 out of the 4 times i've been up there '02,'04,'05,'06, the temp was mild during the day (low-mid 70's) and chilly at night (high 40's-mid 50's). One year it was insanely (record) hot but i'd bet that was a fluke and probably wont be like that again.

Hotels in the upper penninsula will be easily $100+/night that entire week. You could probably find some for less than $100 in the lower penninsula but what fun is that? There is no action over there.

The state park was super convienient being a block from the Supermarket, and 1/2 mile from downtown St Ignace where the action is at.

It would be great to be down there by the water with a bridge view. Problem is we would have people directly behind us unless we buy an entire block of spots to isolate ourselves. That is the advantage of having the forest behind us.

You can reserve spots 6 months in advance. Whatever we decide on we should book them the instant they become reservable.
