Can the switch be R&R'd? or is more complex than that?
yes, but first, put a charger on the car on low, then turn the key on for 10 minutes(charger is to keep the voltage above 12v, this is called theft relearn)
if it then starts, yeah, likely needs the lock cylinder, not the switch
not too hard to replace, but the cylinder needs to be coded to the key(just tumblers, the cylinder from the dealer should come with everything needed)
So to replace the key lock assembly, I have to order it from the dealship?
BTW: Anyone have a GM Tech 2 Scan tool and can turn the theft system off?
yeah, dealer, plus it's not cheap. over $100 for the last one i replaced
