Can anyone in the Warren area scan a TCM (trans axle control module)?
My dad has a cruiser with trans issues; it only has reverse and first gear.
He drove it to work with no issues, and was on his way home when the problem started.
He cam up to a light and stopped, so naturally the car would go to first gear. When he accelerated away from the light it would only stay in first gear. shutting the car off and restarting only gives the same result.
Any ideas or someone with knowledge on this issue?
After performing the key on / off test it displays the following codes:
P0700 code came up after performing a key on/off test.
P0700 = Transmission Control System Malfunction I found while searching needs to have the transmission controller scanned.
I dread him taking it somewhere like the dealer because I know they will just starting replacing everything starting at the top of the list until the empty the parts department shelf. And since the car is out of warranty I am sure this would be very expensive.
Thanks in advance.
