2002 Mercury mountaineer won't start

02 mountaineer 4liter 80,000 miles, shows no codes and just clicks when you turn the key on. Has power, battery is good. Gonna shoot for a starter issue. Just wondering if anyone had run into this in these trucks

Is it just a single click everytime you try and start it or multiple fast clicks?

What happens if u try to jump it?? Removed, cleaned, tightened battery terminals?

No crank. Not no start. Check the main cable to the starter. Very common for them to corrode off.

If you are only getting a single click I would suspect that something is wrong between your starter solenoid and the starter. Multiple clicks would make me think the starter is bad. Just a couple places to start (no pun intended! LOL).

The cables tend to corrode inside the casing. Check the cables, give them a wiggle and see if that does anything for you.
