2001 Trans Am, S475, E85, Daily Driver

Got the radiator mounted last night. The -10 bungs, and meziere water pump are welded on the radiator. Gonna be a pretty awesome setup.

I may have missed this, but why did you decide to go no intercooler? Nice set up tho! Will be a mean bastard when shes done

Simple answer... I am a clean freak. I like my setups to be simple.

I am running E85, which should help with cooling, along with the long intake runners. Hopefully IATs will stay down. I can always add meth/water injection.

killer shoes, man! :icon_bigg

Haha thanks. Puma driving shoes...

Yes, it is a bit off. I need to clean them up...

One side is offset forward 3/16", the other side in offset backward 3/16"

don't pay attention to IAT's it won't help you.

I have been running a 10:1 compression SBF with 20+ PSI on E85 non-intercooled for 2.5 seasons with no issues......now, if you have a way to measure combustion temps....then it would interesting to see gas vs. E85?

I am clearly new to this concept, but I planned on it working... It just seemed that since this is a streetcar, that IATs may become an issue, as opposed to a dedicated race car... But, running a $300 junkyard LQ4 shortblock, I am less than worried about learning things the hard way. :D

Anyway, Thanks for the input!

my inlet temps are probably 300 degree's the sensor stops reading after 255 and I have made repeated hits out on the highway.....hell I got after it this weekend against a Lamod and a GTR this pas weekend.

Just start with a cold plug like a -9 or -10 NGK. I know the LS stuff uses decicated coils, so you can probably set your plug gap a little larger but I shoot for .020.

I like to use the superior heat absorption of the fuel so I run it rich...so target 10.5:1 AF to start if using the gas scale.

Timing I never get agressive with....so start low.

You will love the E85.. I have yet to find the ceiling.

Bad ass build so far....the fab work is top notch.

Wow, I appreciate it. That was a lot of great information.

and thanks, I am really enjoying all this fab work. but I am literally making it up as I go. Never done anything like this, never even touched a TIG before this project.

So... A little chassis work this winter.

Ran some short A-pillar bars up to the dash bar, which I made of 1-5/8 and tied into the OEM A-pillar. Then for extra rigidity Im putting little X's in the doors.

I think this design is a good compromise for my little streetcar.

Working on setting the engine in its new position.

I've been doing lots of research. Still a bit to figure out. Looks like crank C/L will sit at 12.5"

Plated the front frame rails and tied it into the cage.

Not so much a street car anymore eh? Lol. Motorplate, caged, a/w now?

:D its going to sound like im splitting hairs. I know everyone has there own definition. but...

I already had solid motor mounts, so I don't think Motorplates are much different.

It's still just a rollbar, which I think really adds to "streetcar". (no bars next to your head)

A2W doesn't really reduce streetability compared to non-intercooled.

Still full interior, 200# of dynamat, 1000W sound system, hitch(that I used), and it will still be driven regularly on the street.

Sweet build! You are right down the road from me. I look forward to seeing this out again. ;) Might motivate me to actually take mine out more often.

I was gonna say he isn't that far from me either. Bring that tubing bender over and help me put a."rollbar" in my car. I also have a diversion 165 so you can leave that at home lol

If you know this guy, you know it will be a real street car....and really driven!

Looking forward to seeing it out again.

a/w intercooler without an exchanger is going to be pointless on the street unless you plan to run low boost or tune for the hottest temp you will see.

You don't even run an intercooler at all, so what are you talking about?

Cold water/ice at the track, nothing on the street. Works just fine!
