got my wife a 2001 aztek yesterday , its in real nice shape and runs and drives super smooth , anyways the guy i got it off of ( small little off the wall dealer ) said he just filled the tank to the top , well weve gone a total of 100ish miles already and the gas gauge hasent moved off of full , maybe were just use to driving a gas hog but damn it hasent even budged off of full , i looked up the specs of the tank and it says its like a 18-19 gallon tank and the EPA says it gets like 19-20 mpg , sound like a bad sending unit ? or is it just us not use to driving something that gets decent gas MPG ? , and if it is a bad sending unit will the low fuel light still come on ?

Keep driving, I. Have several gms where the gauge doesn't move till around 120 miles , but yeah, sending unit may fix it, or may not

This... GM hasn't had a good sending unit in more than a few years. If it don't move by the 150ish mark, plan on a sending unit.

thanks guys , i figured it was the sending unit , i guess theres also a harness ( c305 harness/conector ) under the drivers seat that likes to corrode and cause weird shit to happen , im just going to do the sending unit 1st thow and if all else fails ill look into that harness

It's an Aztek ? hmmm..

Push in the cig. lighter when it pops out throw it in the back seat and walk away !

In all honesty can you get to the plug on the sending unit ? OHM it out and see what it reads right at the sender..

Oops i didnt see your last post.

Aztek.....goofey looking GM minivan.

Anyways, besides the fuel sending unit.....keep an eye on the 3.4 intake BS....I have seen lots of headgaskets, blown motors.....blah blah.

Son said to me one day, "Anyone driving an Aztek is telling the world they have no taste". I about crashed the car laughing, he was 8 years old at the time.

just got the fuel pump replaced and got the gas gauge working , the mechanic said that im leaking coolant from my timing chain cover but didnt realy tell me what to do to get it fixed , so am i looking at a water pump or doing the lower intake gaskets or it it just as simple as a bad gasket ?

Well, it depends, if dripping from the cover, its likely the intake gasket, but if the timing cover is leaking, it needs the timing cover gasket
