2001 Bullitt....looking at exhaust options.

I have a 2001 Bullitt Mustang, last year I had a Vortech Supercharger install along with 42lb injectors, a power pipe (air intake) , and a fuel pump and all the goodies needed to make the car right. Other than the supercharger and the supporting mods, the car is stock.

I want to add an exhaust, I know the car will have to be retuned.

That being said, I was going to put on a BBK crossover (2.5 inch) and a stainless steal Flowmaster unit from Jegs.

BBK 1670 - BBK X-Pipes for Mustangs
Flowmaster 817312 - Flowmaster Mustang Exhaust Systems

I am wondering if I should get the crossover with or without cats, I still want to be able to listen to the radio but have the performance aspect too.

What do you guys recommend? I see you have an exhaust compilation at the top, but I just wanted some personal opinions too....

well, it of course will be a bit louder without cats but im looking to get cats installed on mine because of the smell. I have dumps though so the smell inside the car can be unbearable at times, with tailpipes im sure I wouldnt notice much. I have to run dumps because of my suspension setup though.

If I remember right, your Bullitt is a really nice car. I would spend the extra money and go with a Bassani X over the BBK. Bassani stuff is really nice. Worth the extra cash IMO.

What kind of power does it make with the Vortech?

Yeah, I want a nice piece that's for sure. I want to have something that I can drive everyday and not be sick of in a week.

Sideways...looked into Bassani, I wondered if anyone here sells it? Jegs and Sumitt don't. You know how much more it costs?

Thats a good question. I am not sure if Livernois sells them. You could always call them or PM 99saleenspeedster (Rick).

If you strike out there, I bought mine from Tom Kraft (Race & Performance Parts) in September of 2002. I paid $280.00 (I just dug up the reciept).

He had them on the shelf back then. PM me if you want his number.

in my opinion If i were you I would go with an off road (catless) mac prochamber. It provides great power, and although it is catless it is a much more tamed sound than an X pipe, and in my opinion sounds better/cleaner. I had a off road BBK X pipe for a long time, it was great while i was 18 and loved to have the loudest car around, but over time it drove me nutts and i got a prochamber, which by the way fitted 10x's better than my BBK x pipe that always leaked.

Heres a video clip of my car on the Dyno with off road pro-chamber and flowmaster American thunder catback.

when i had BBK off road X and dumped 2 chambers:

Thanks for the help, where can I find info on the MAC prochamber? Is that the brand name too?

I too am kinda past the stage of wanting the loudest car around, I am looking for the best performance without rattling my brains everyday.

X2 I hate a loud car. A clean sound/tone is much better.

OR Bassani X will run you $375
Mac OR Prochamber will run you $250.

And yes MAC is the brand name.

Where can you find these MAC and Bassani units? I will have to call around Jegs and Summit don't carry them it seems.

I am all for a clean sounding car......loudness means nothing.

That one will fit with the stock exhaust manifolds correct? PC9900 right?

Yes it will. And you should check out youtube for some more video clips to make sure its what you want, not everyones taste is the same, but i really think the pro chamber's sound best, it gives a nice deep rumble, and slightly hollow tone. the x pipe,e xpecially off road tend to get a bad "raspy" "tingy" sound that many people actually like, but it grew old to me very quick, especially if you like to downshift your car to slow it down! The pro-chamber also got rid of a lot of my interior resonance. Let me know if you need any other info/help.

Well, I guess Bullitts already have an upgraded catback. Most people on SVT performance suggest sticking with the stock and swapping out the X pipe. I think I am just going to buy the X pipe, I might go with prochamber or the BBK, not sure....
