2,000 HP LSX

Someone is running on DR this year. Care to guess which block he'll be using? :)

Rick
There's a bunch running them in radial (Ohio Boys, Kempf, at least one other). The one I'm thinking of is the one who has been the fastest and he's running an LSX against his engine builder's recommendation of using a regular SBC though. They might be able to hang with the SBCs but I know which one costs more and requires fancier parts to run side by side. That obviously gets better as they make more parts but the old school SBC has a real big head start. With boost, there is no need to spend a ton of money on really fancy parts. You just need a good foundation and a big turbo.

Brain is a cool guy with a lot of information, talked with him at his shop on different occasions and has always stopped to talk to me about many different combo's!

Brian did all the machine work for my LT1. And I'm going to have him do my Lq9 block here shortly.

Brian has done a ton of resarch for Gm perfomance parts. It's no supprise that he is useing an LSx engine. Like Dale says he has a wharehouse full of em.

You could be :) DRCE P/N 24502572

I don't need to know what an LSX block is... ;)

That's only GM though, why not get a dart BBC block, they're holding down 4000+ horsepower, SBC Dart blocks are holding more power than the LSX and have some sweet heads. I do like the LSX block design but it would be cool to see some heads made specifically for drag racing that use more advanced intake designs.

Because its on an LS platform (LSX), most LS engine parts I.e. Oil Pump, Water Pump, Oil Pan, Intakes etc. are a direct Bolt on from the LS1,Ls2,Ls3 Ls6, Ls7 etc....:2girls:

Yeah but if you're using a 2000+ hp block, then chances are you want to make a lot of power which makes those stock parts useless. Pretty much any engine over 1500 hp is not going to use anything stock on it and you wouldn't go to an LSX block in the first place unless you planned on making more than that since the stock blocks have been proven to at least that level pretty reliably (even some of the alum versions).

I think the LSX stuff is cool but I just can't afford to do it so I stick with the old school stuff with stock 23 deg AFR heads.

I was just trying to explain the difference. I agree with you, I'd rather stick to SBC or BBC... I'm leaving the LS world next summer, and going 555ci... I'm ready for a Carburetor again....

A friend of mine was working there at Thompsons the day they dynoed that thing. He invited me to come watch it, but I had other obligations. Wish I could have seen that first hand though!
