1995 Ford Thunderbird Idle Issue

I have a 95 Thunderbird LX with a 4.6L and Automatic transmission. I am having a problem with it idling, what happens is that when you first start the car it will not idle, but will run if you hold the throttle down and keep it at about a 1,000 RPM. Once you let up on the throttle it will die out, unless you keep it held to a 1,000 RPM for about 2-5 minutes and then it will idle fine. I have not had to much time to look at it but I haven't seen anything that it out of the ordinary that would seem to cause this issue. Also if you floor it while it is in gear it will bog down at about 2,500 RPM and not accelerate any more, and run rough. I am not sure if that is related or not but, I have no idea on where to go next with trying to figure out what is causing these issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
Sam

I had a 96 tbird that acted the same way, it ended up being the throttle positioning sensor. Was a real easy fix.

I just checked the TPS and at WOT it was only at about 3.75 so I went and got a new one and just tried that out and still the same problem. Is there a something certain that I need to do after the TPS being replaced? Also there is no check engine light on.

When you put it on you have to make sure it is set right I believe. It has been years since I did it on my old thunderbird, but I think there is a certain way it has to go on.

Alright, I will have to check and see what I can find on that. I did pull off the top vacuum line going to the PVC valve that runs to the fuel system canister under the right headlight and the car started to run fine, like it is starving for air. I will keep looking into this and giving updates as I go. Thank you for all the help so far.

Iac? Possibly. I hate these cars I recently completely rebuilt my sisters 95 4.6 all that's left to do is the trans (sticky valve body) good luck
