Hi Guys. I have a 1988 Pontiac Trans Am project that I was working on until something new (1970 Nova) was dumped in my lap. I can only focus on one (wifey is boss after all).
The one thing that stopped me with this project is that the floor pans need to be replaced. I do have that sheetmetal, just not the expertise to install them. It's a t-top car that does leak under pressure, but I haven't noticed any leaking in the rain.
Some of the highlights:
Engine is a 350 from a Nova (ironically) that turns over [mild street cam, edelbrock aluminum dual plane with a gap performer RPM intake, 327 camelback heads, edelbrock 600 cfm carb]. Transmission is a matching TH350 with a shift kit, chrome trans pan, and new (not installed) dipstick with a double o-ring. I intended on having the transmission re-built, but it is functional with no slipping. I have no details on the torque converter. To fit inside this car, this transmission has a kit that allows torque arm and factory cross member to bolt right up. The driveshaft is from a 200r4 from an '83 Firebird. The rearend is factory, 2.73 gears in an open (non-posi carrier). I do have a used factory positraction carrier that I've never installed, but bought on ebay.
The suspension in the front is all factory and needs to be gone through. The suspension in the back is all new. New, bigger sway bar with polyurethane bushings and new hardware. New TRW replacement coil springs. New OEM type shocks. New, box type trailing arms. There are two sets of sub frame connectors. Bolt on ones are on the car. Weld in ones are not.
I have an analog Firebird dash. A variety of interior parts in black and gray. The factory 15" Firebird star wheels are on it. I found some 16" Formula wheels and some barely fitting used rubber from a Corvette. These aren't perfect but in pretty good shape and have held good air pressure over the last two years. I do not have the center caps.
There is more, but I cannot think of all of it right now. If you have a specific need, I can my collection for you, and we can work out a deal.
For the whole project, I'm asking $1500. That's for everything for this car that I have. I'm also open to parting it out. I will consider any offer I receive, including part for part trades.
I can be reached via email at [email protected]. Thanks for looking!
p.s. I pulled the interior out to replace floor pans. Interior still out of car. This isn't drivable as it sits.
