1969 Barracuda cleaning up!!

A few months ago I bought this 1969 Barracuda from a friend of mine. I had been bugging him for a while about it, because I always thought they were neat looking cars. He eventually agreed to sell it to me, so here we are. Outside, the car is fairly clean. Has a few imperfections, but most do. Inside is pretty nice as well. But under the hood is TERRIBLE looking. The car has had a coolant leak since the day I brought it home, that has progressively gotten worse. I tightened the water pump bolts, to find two stripped bolts. The trans also has a small leak, so I've decided to pull the engine and trans, fix some issues, and give it a rattle can tune up. I've decided to leave the engine alone mechanically, aside from changing the intake, carb, and a different exhaust system. The trans has a cheetah manual valve body, and shifts firm 1-2, but has a lazy feeling 2-3 shift, so I'm dropping it off to be inspected as well. Today I got the motor and trans out, so I figured I'd post some pictures for anyone who may be interested.

The car, and some photos I took of it a couple weeks ago.

Upon tearing it out, I've decided to take care of a few other issues that scare me. The oil pan is touching the K member, so I'm going to do a little clearancing on the K member, and the fuel system is pretty scary. The new pump is mounted on the exhaust hanger, with a variety of tiny steel fuel line mixed in with a little rubber hose here and there and secured with some worm clamps. I will run braided all the way from the pump to the regulator.

And some new parts that will be going on the engine.

Stay tuned for updates as they come!!

It's not a chevy paint the engine bay body color please

Eventually I will. Im going to paint it the original color sometime next winter so im not going to mess with the engine bay at this time. No sense in painting it red just to change it all down the road.

All in all the car looks great! I love that body style.

I like the hood scoop change your making too. That 340 demon scoop looked ok, but the new one was a trade mark scoop. Nice ride!!

I couldn't wait to get rid of that scoop when I first picked the car up. Over time it has grown on me a little. I still like the super stock style hood better though and am anxious to get it on.

Great choice of vehicle. I wish I had some valve covers & air cleaner on my dining room table. I have crap like napkins and car keys.

Not a mopar fan too much, but I have always liked that year! Good choice.

Should come out great, what's the weight?

Got the engine all cleaned up and primered. Tossed some parts on just to make sure all was good in the hood before painting and bolting everything back up.

Also washed out the engine bay before sanding and repainting.
