1966 Buick Skylark Gran Sport hardtop. Flame Red paint with black vinyl top, black interior with bucket seats and console with tach. Correct 401 Wildcat V8 engine and ST-300 switch pitch transmission. Well equipped with power steering, power brakes, factory air conditioning, AM radio. Odometer reads 42k miles which the previous owner stated is correct. This is a very original & correct car which is 1 of 9,934 Skylark Gran Sport hardtops in 1966.

Below is a description of each area of the vehicle.
Body: The body is solid and straight with only 1 ding on the hood. All body panels appear original to the vehicle. The roof appears to be rust-free and the vinyl top is in excellent condition.
Paint: The Flame Red paint is a good 5-footer: it has a lot of shine and light orange peel duplicating factory paint. The paint is approximate 15 years old: the door jams and trunk were repainted at the same time. A couple of touched up chips around the car. Overall very nice, but not concours-quality (over-restored). The car’s original color was Cream.
Chrome: All of the chrome & trim appears original and is in fair condition. Some of the trim has small pits. Front and rear bumpers were re-chromed many years ago and are very presentable.
Underbody: The frame and underbody is clean with rust-free floor & trunk pans.
Interior: The black bucket seat interior is in very good condition: all components are present and working. The seats have been recovered and the headliner was replaced. The seats sit very well. The car is equipped with factory front and rear seat belts (4 total). All factory gauges work. The chrome around the gauges & on the armrests is dull. There is some chrome pitting on the top of the console and shift indicator glass is missing. The current owner tastefully added Autometer gauges under the dash (water temp, oil pressure, voltmeter).
HVAC: A new heater core was recently installed. The AC needs to be recharged, as the system was evacuated before the engine was rebuilt (see details below).
Engine: The engine is correct and original to the car. It was recently rebuilt to original specs with the exception of a Comp Cams Thumpr performance cam. The engine starts rights immediately and runs healthy with a muscular, lumpy idle.
Transmission: ST300 2-speed automatic transmission with switch-pitch torque converter. Both the transmission and switch pitch torque converter work fine. The transmission has slight leak around the oil pan caused by lack of use.
Rear Axle: It is believed to be a 3.08:1 with limited slip differential. There is a stamped tag on the axle cover denoting it as being originally equipped with a limited slip differential.
Wheels & Tires: 14” Stamped Buick Rally wheels. Tires are BF Goodrich Radial TA’s, 225/75R14.
The car was purchased from a gentleman in Georgia in 2000. He stated the odometer reflects the original miles on this car. I have some records dating back to the early 1990s as well as in-process pictures of its color-change repaint in the late 1990s. It has been kept in a dry garage since I purchased it and brought it to Michigan. I rarely drive it, which is why it is for sale (and why the transmission pan leaks). It mostly sits covered in my garage. I would like for it to go to a Buick enthusiast who will enjoy and care for this well-preserved GS.
Price: $17,500
I can be reached at 586-255-1117 or email at [email protected]. The car is located in Oakland Twp. MI, which is northern suburb of Detroit close to the Palace of Auburn Hills.
