Cool example, but wrecked what looked liked pretty decent 59'.
I wanna drive an old school as a DD so bad I can taste it.
u would think cause u have a big ass car like that 59 that u would get hurt to bad, but damn thats crazy i wouldent want to be in there
did they remove the frame before crashing the bel air?? haha
I love the non post cars too, but that was just a run of the mill 4 door that people have trouble giving away.there was once a time when common sense didn't need to be compensated for, and cars were intended for driving, rather than crashing.
RIP '59 bel air - what i would give for a non-post hardtop!!
Id gladly buy a brand new car as safe as that for $7000 out the door - in TODAYS dollar value. Id have a new car and id be stimulating the economy. (especially if it was that stylish) The average new car buyer is beyond their 40s nowadays.
The problem i see with safety engineering is that you literally have to put a price on the value of human life. I think some new cars are getting ridiculous. I couldn't even back up a boat with an 09 tahoe due to its humongous roof pillars blocking my vision. The camaro's trunk is a joke. Where did t-tops go?
i guess you could say i dont agree with the current market value
/black sheep opinion
I think the reason they used a clean '59 was because if there was rust on the car the metal wouldn't have been as solid making it crush easier.
I was able to back the trailer - i just had to shift my position around at a million miles an hour to see what i was doing.... hanging out the window, etc. And the whole time the reverse sensor is bonging its heart out, making sure i knew that there was a boat behind me.I love the non post cars too, but that was just a run of the mill 4 door that people have trouble giving away.
Maybe it's me. I can back up a car trailer or 2 place sled trailer with a Tahoe/Yukon just fine.
Regarding T-tops - let the eighties go![]()

when im in my truck all i have to do is turn my head from 1 seated position.
and no i will never let go of my mullet sled!
I honestly think that impala did pretty well in that crash. Where it didnt do good is that the cab structure was compromised and the large iron steering wheel is bound to mess your face up... and thats all it takes to kill someone.
thats the key part i think. The lack of air bags....
That and lack of 'crumple zone' technology.
