Does anyone know what the specs are for an early 392 Hemi factory dual point distributor?

What is the normal timing and what is the total timing and what should the points be set at? What is the max total timing for the stock engine?

The customer wants to keep the points...

Thanks.......Gary

post #5 is a starting point at least

My old Chilton says 6 before TDC for most all the V8 hryslers 57 and 58 except 8BTDC on the 58 Windsor and saratoga. Same books says expect about 20 extra crank degrees of centrifugal advance up around 4400 rpm on the 2 bbl engines and 13 degrees at 2100 on the 4 bbl and Fuel INjected (!) engines. That assumes a TDC mark I can trust.

When I originally ran it, I got about 7 distributor degrees, at a total of 3000 RPM. After reading a bunch, I found you only want about 30 total crank degrees of timing in the early Hemis. I elongated the weight slots a bit and got it to 11 distrib. degrees or 22 crank degrees, so I am good there. I now need some weaker springs. The Chrysler springs are quite a bit longer than the GM and Ford springs I have. I did put a GM spring and ran it with that and total timing didn't come in until 3500 RPM. So now I just need a weaker spring......
