05 gran prix ABS light and Traction Control

I was reading on the gran prix forum and someone had mentioned that the codes need to be cleared, that if it was infact the brakes that I replaced that were the problem it wouldn't matter until the code was cleared, or that 100 trips occured without the fault appearing again. Is this true?

The speed sensor is incorporated into hub assembly on these cars. The Grand Ams with a seperate sensor can be cleaned (metal filings not corrosion). Obviously hes looking for a simple answer and it doesn't get any easier testing then as described. Good Luck
