So I think my TC is bad. It's developed a pretty lound whine when the trucks in gear. Any advice?
What kind of $$ am I looking at to get this fixed? It's a 4R100 right?

Does the noise increase with rpm? Is it louder in reverse? How is the noise in park or neutral. It's prolly not a internal converter problem. Yes it's a 4R100.

No noise in park. It does increase with RPM. Truck drives and shifts ok at this point.

Sounds alot like this. But not as bad.

If this is a gas navi, that converter only has one bearing between the turbine and cover (side that bolts to the flex plate) when this bearing fails ( which happens about 30% of converters that come in for reman, the noise is predominent in park, and neutral. The diesel navi, has two bearings one between the stator and pump, and then the same one as the gas navi. The bearing between the stator and pump fails about 40% that come in for reman, but usually with 150 thou plus. That noise is predominent in drive, and worse in reverse.

Hahaha! You are correct. I was thinking excursion. When mike has me cuttin converters all day E40D/4R100/5R110 converters all look the same. How cool would a diesel navi be if they made one.
