02 blazer , idle and shift issues

02 blazer 2wd ,., still 100% drivable but ive had 6 or so blazers/jimmys/s10s and Sonoma , never had this issue

while cold wen you start it up it runs fine , rpm around 8-900 when in gear , once up to temp after driving around the rpm drops to 500ish but will not stall out , kinda jumps around from 450-600 ,., to me it seems like something is trying to engage ( hear a click from time to time when the rpm fluctuates ) .,. any ideas ?

next issue and it may be related im not sure , while driving and attempting to speed up the trans doesn't always downshift to accelerate fast , kinda just sling shots itself up to speed , trans shifts fine and doesn't slip at all , trans fluid is cherry red

I do have a CEL but don't have a reader and don't trust the auto parts stores to pull them ( always want you to play there guessing game )

any ideas guys ?

Possible intake gasket leak. If it throws a lean o2 code chances are that's the deal. Try spraying carb cleaner around the intake where the ports align from the intake to the heads. It could be leaking on the other side too under the intake.
 
head gaskets were just done not that long ago , I did spray starting fluid around every possible area and nothing changed at all
 
clean MAF,IAC and throttle body, make sure the tube from the valve cover to the back of the Air tube at the throttle body is on

hmmm , good call , not sure why I didn't think of that , probably because im always expecting the worst lol

im in Dearborn heights , telegraph and 94 also
 
got those issues fixed , ended up cleaning the maf and TB , replaced the air filter ( was nasty )

now I have an issue of throttle hang , take off from a stop and when I let off it to maintain speed the throttle hangs or floats for a few seconds , kinda makes stopping a bit interesting lol ....... any ideas on that guys ?
