For Sale: The 1998/1999 MSU Formula SAE race car.
I just don't have the time to make it into a runner. It does look cool and makes for an amazing MSU collectible, though! Everyone who stops by the garage asks about it.
As an FSAE alum, I remember when this car was being built. The team was trying to address things like weight and cost, so it was designed to be small, lightweight, and use off-the-shelf parts from the ATV and bicycle markets. The car went on to score 27th place out of 100 entries for 1999, and scoring seems to indicate it was an average performer in terms of acceleration and handling, but didn't score in the endurance & mileage competition category:

This car features a 1991 Honda CBR600F1 engine, a programmable Delco fuel injection system, Fox shocks, and carbon fiber panels. There is a functional steering rack, but no steering wheel, and the exhaust system was cut for some reason; Probably to reconfigure it for clearance. It needs a steering wheel, an inline fuel pump, the exhaust system welding, a muffler, and some sealing of the carbon fiber intake plenum to get it running. Other than that, it appears to be pretty much complete. The engine turns over & has compression so I have no reason to think it won't run when fuel and ignition are applied.
If you think you might like what is likely only one of a handful of MSU Formula SAE cars to be released into the wild, here is your chance. I'm open to offers of around $1200 or so.
