Looking for a candy apple red Honda CT70 / honda 70/ trail 70 - Looking for around the 1970 model year. Let me know if you have one!

Thanks!

Looking for the candy apple red one closer to the 1970 model year. I am looking for the exact bike that my dad had as a child. I've seen a few on CL.

Fun little bikes. I have a 1973 CT70 blue. My Dad bought it for me when I was in 3rd grade. Sorry, tho, I'll never give it up.

My dad said he wishes he would have never traded it to the dealer in the late 70s for an RM125. lol

They are very popular. As I got older I realized how popular they were. To me, it was just my bike. And I tell ya.....I never replaced ANYTHING on this bike since I've had it except for the rear tire (rotted out) and the air filter (deteriorated and clogged carb). Other than that, everything is original.

You don't even want to know what my Dad paid for it back in the late 80's/early 90's. $75.00 man. I've seen those things in autotrader/trade & times for as high as $1,200.

I have a Candy Ruby Red CT70K3 sitting here as I type this. Sorry to say that the owner doesn't want to sell it (yet). I'm currently in the process of splitting the engine cases to replace damaged kickstarter gears.

Funny thing is, I never really understood why these things are so sought after. I guess it's more sentimental value than anything else. I usually get one or two a year where the customer gives me the go ahead for $500-$700 worth of work.

I think it's sentimental value too. Something someone had as a kid, sold it when they got older, now they have kids and want to give them the same thing. I'd rather have my unborn child learn on this 73 Honda when he's tall enough for it over some mini 80cc bike.

I jumped from a Honda CT70, to an early 80's air-cooled Yamaha YZ80 (which was fast as hell), I was taking out mid 90's liquid cooled 125cc bikes on an oval track behind our house. Them old 80cc bikes were much faster than the mini 80's they have now. Then jumped from an 80cc to a 98 WR200R Yamaha, then to an 88 & 94 CR250R.
