Looking for some fluorescent shop lights for my garage. They can be 2 or 4 bulb fixtures. Id like at least 4 but 6 would be ideal.

Becareful buying old used ones, usually the ballast are junk or near it.

Murray Lighting on the south side of 8 mile, near Evergreen, has the best prices on new fixtures. Do yourself a favor and get T-5, T-6 or T-8 fixture instead of t-12. They are phasing out the bulbs for T-12. T-(*) is the diameter of the bulb measured in 1/8ths of an inch. 12's are 1 1/4, 8's are one inch and so on. The T-12's were the standard for decades. The T-5 fixtures with 6 and 8 bulbs are real nice, but still a little pricey. I think T-8's work well and have come down in price. I'm pretty sure their 8' - 2 bulb T-8 fixture is around $30 brand new. The smaller bulbs take a lot less electricity, but offer the same light.

I have 28 - 8ft fixtures in my shop, all were T-12 standard start/standard output. I upgraded half of them (every other light) to new ballast that take T-8 bulbs instead of T-12. It was just a ballast change and the wiring is slightly different. The same fixtures are now cold start and are a lot brighter, plus use less energy. I got those at Murray Lighting as well. It was around $30 a fixture to convert (including bulbs).
