Would you buy a rotary engine car?

i would if i had a LS1 sitting around. i personally wouldn't own one, they require a ton of maintenance to keep them running.

A guy I work with has an extremely nice RX7. Makes 500hp to the wheels and is very light. He says they're expensive to keep running right. He does it all himself so it probably isn't as bad, but he seems to always be playing with something. In fairness to him, the only time it hasn't ran in the past few years was by his choice of tearing something down. he hasn't blown it up (yet)

If it's not an RX-8 or totally stock 93-96 RX-7, or you don't mind paying out the ass for maint. for them, then go for it. Rotaries are just horribly un-reliable. Apex seals love to shit the bed.

I had a few rx7's, the non turbo cars are much less headache then the turbo cars. But either way you will end up learning to work on it yourself, as there aren't many places around that will work on them. *or know how to*

Only if I had the cash to replace it with an LS1 when it blew up. I had a '94 Rx7 for a while and it was a nightmare to keep running. Anything that has this for a vacuum system is just too overdesigned to work correctly:

A rotary won't give you a lot of torque, and it'll probably always feel a little underwhelming, unless you go crazy with the mods. An LS1 or LS2 will be a perfect mate to that chassis.
