So I got everything back together, its a 88 5.0 hatch efi. It turns over and gets fuel and spark but won't start? Thought maby had the timing off but swiched it around a few times and still no start, its has a good ground. Has anyone had a problem like this? Thanks in advance

Pulled motor head gaskets pulled wire harnesses in car drilled a hole in behind the motor and ran the harness out the hole plug everything in, I'm 99% sure everything is plug in as it was before

Fuel yes but don't have a pressure gauge but for sure getting fuel ( after trying to start for a little fuel starts comming out exhaust, , injectors are pulsing, with ignetion on injectors are getting 13.4 volts, coil is good, tfi is good,

Had no compression on 4 cylinders 5-8, the other side 1-4 has compression, if I do a full turn of pre load there's no compression but if I do hafe there's is compression, could the hydraulic lifters be bad? gona get a good compression tester tomorrow and see if its the same across, now is starts but running rough and won't idle.. could this be that I switched from 24's to 42's injectors? I got a maf for 42's on it.

loosen all the rockets till they rattle, then check compression, sounds like the rockers might be too tight

how are you adjusting?

dont do the spin the pushrod method, that is too inacurate, I move the pushrods up and down, tighten till no more movement, then tighten your desired preload amount, I rarely go past 1/2 turn

Did you change the injector or the mass air. i had the same problem when i put the engine back together. the change i made on the car was 19 to 42 injector, sq s trim, AFR heads and F cam. i bought this 42lb injector with the mass air calibrated to it. car stated up first time but won't idle. i did everything on it like u did. I gave up and took my car to Don Walsh Jr at Walsh Motorsport. He found out that the mass air was not calibrated to 42lb injector it was cal for 19lb. He replace the mass air calibrated for 42lb and the car startedup find, he did the turning on both of my Stang. Check yours wire to the mass air. Never trust what other people sale, been rape a few time,

So today I switched #5 an #6 injectors around cause a few people told me it could be sticking or a messed up wiring harness and swaped a different engine harness on it and still missing on #6, as of night it was getting spark on #6... Gookracing did you have a misfire?

Yes I did. The car won't stay running. Have someone check the mass air meter. If mass air meter not calibrated to the injectors you will have this from. Did u buy the injectors and mass air meter new or use? Pm me I'll give my number maybe I can help u out. I live right here on 23mile and Hayes.
