what is the proper way to wire up a relay? specifically for a fuel pump and an electric water pump and fan. and is there different relays for each thing or do they all use the same style relay? thanks

ahhh!! its all making sense now! thanks. so this means that to run a fan that draws 20 amps i dont need a 20 amp switch. i can use a 10 amp and a relay right??

standard bosch type relays are 30-40 amp regardless. You don't want any current going through any switch, thats what the relay is for. If a fan draws 20 amps, then your fine with that 4/5 pin relay....

i think im going to make a metal plate and have all my relays on that then mount that stationary under the dash somewhere

It sounds like a cool idea, but depending on what you are running off the relays, it may not be such a good idea. Big current items, like mondo fuel pumps don't do so well when the power wire coming from the relay is 10-12' away from the relay. Best to, at least on high current items have the relay close to the device...

ahh ok. i didnt even think of that. well than i can tuck the fuel pump relay back by the pump. its just going to be a holley black

here is how i did mine

Is that on the firewall, or trunk panel?

ahh, never mind, I don't think you have a brake pedal in the trunk...

under the dash. i made my dash removable with 4 dzuz fastners. my gauges stay in place and dash comes right out in 20sec. makes life so much easier and dont have to crawl under dash anymore. if you look in that photobucket you will see a bunch of pics from the build

you will want the power lead to the relay, and from the relay to device as short as possible

so, if your battery is in the trunk, mount the fuel pump relay back there
