I have (wife's car) a 2001 windstar that keeps tripping the check engine light (code 171-174) which Is up stream oxygen sensor. Originally It tripped 171 which Is left bank.....lean code (which I replaced) and then 2 weeks later a 171 which Is right bank.....lean code (that I also replaced) now after 9 days of being off It came back on again with a lean code 171-174. I cleared the codes BUT am getting tired of her bitching about It. Any Ideas ????? Is there somthing causing It to run lean and tripping the code ? H E L P !!!!!

those codes have nothin to do with 02 sensor usually. look for vacuum leaks- usually intake gaskets and isolator bolts (bolts-dealer item)

I agree 100%. Those windstars were notorious for intake leaks at the bolts and gaskets. Very easy to do... Just pop off the cowling with a few 8mm bolts and you can access everything. Definatly get the parts from the dealer as they are the updated style.

this sounds like a autozone diag right hear .... you have a o2 code .... so that means you need a new one right? ....always find out why you have the code instead of tossing parts at it, like everyone else said probably vaccum leak caused by the intake pretty common from what i recall.
