Window Seals Freezing

Guys,

Seems like anytime the temp drop below freezing and we've had any snow/rain, my front windows are frozen shut. Any suggestions on how to prevent this? 2004 Tahoe.

I was going to get some silicone lube and wipe down the sides and top window seals, but that's not going to work for the lower seal... going to make a mess of the window. Any ideas?

Welcome to Michigan. Besides moving to a warmer climate you could get a remote start and have the defrost vents point at the windows. I have the same issue with both of my daily drivers. I would like to hear a fix.

All my life I've dealt with this and never heard of a fix. I don't think there is anything you can do aside from what he said above and that is remote start and point the vents at the windows to melt the ice that's boding the window to the seal.

That's what I do.

Naaa - I've lived here my entire life. The windows are freezing up more than what you'd normally expect, or at least more than normal on trucks that I've previously owned over the past 15 years. e.g. my windows have frozen at least a dozen times this year & we've gotten barely any snow/ice. I think the rubber weatherstripping/seals are simply "dried out" since the truck is 8 years old and they aren't repelling water like they used to. I can try oiling the sides and tops, but I have no clue what to do about the bottom seal, short of replacing it. Oil is going to gum up the window and just be a mess.

Lithium grease in the track, silicone on the OUTSIDE of the dew strip, it will soak into the rubber and make less of a smear on the glass.

I'm born/raised Michigander and I do that and even still my windows freeze from time to time. The fail safe is: hit the window switch so the window motor/regulator is pulling down on the glass and hit the window (firmly but not so hard you break the window) and they will always free up.

Apply Armor All or similar product in spring and just befor winter. Keeps the rubber supple and less freezing occurs. atleast it works for me.
