Why y wy why y?

looks painful. motocrossers do that same type of jump all the time, but without a ramp. but then again, it helps to have an engine! :)

Some people just need to prove that they can die better than others.

No its a mountian biker thing. They think becuase the bikes they ride have full suspensions that they can absorb anything. Funny thing was few years back the best BMX racers in the world jumped into mountain biking and kicked ass won everything for like a few years. Most mountian bikers I have seen don't realy have as much skill as they think becuase the bike does so much of the work. Eiether way that was a dumb jump to attempt and to top it off it went south at the luanch he was nose down . Had he been nose up he might have just shruged it off with a collapsed wheel.

i'm assuming you're talking about downhill mountain bike racing versus cross country mountain bike racing. because BMX racers don't have anywhere near the conditioning to race cross country.

Having done some cross country vs BMX the conditioning isn't really that different. I used to run a good 5-6 miles a day and do a full calstenics strength training routine with circut wieghts. Anarobic fitness is the same regardless. Yes it was mostly downhill however.
