Why buy a car if you cannot afford the tires for it?

On my way home yesterday I get from 96 to 127 south bound and see a silver Saleen Mustang in my rear view mirror. Clean looking car in my mirror that couldn't get around traffic... (stupid ass impala doing 65 in the left lane and traffic doing the same in the right lane)


Anyways, I keep my eye on the car until I come up to my exit. As I am slowing down he finally speeds up and I see him in my side mirror finally getting to see the side of the car... Factory chrome saleen wheels --- that had enough of an edge on them the lip edge of the wheel could cut a pizza! :jawdrop2:


The dude had this great looking new edge Saleen Mustang that sounded good --- but had NARROW ass tires on it that barely fit! You could see the lip of the rim from the side view of the car, and from the rear of the car...They stuck out like shitty hubcaps would! :banghead:


I used to see this when I sold tires, and still don't understand it... You want a badass car with a nice wheel, but cannot afford the properly sized tires for it... :shrug:

(yes, I am making assumptions that the dude cannot afford tires for it... But why else would you stretch such a small tire to fit a wide wheel!?)

I've never understood the "stretch" look, pretty dumb IMO. Its more an import thing, but that could be an intentional look he was going for.

I completely agree with your initial premise. Tires are the cheapest and most effective mod you can make. They are the one item on your car that is being used ALL THE TIME! To get cheap or even nonchalant about tires is beyond ridiculous.

3ed gen RS 305 camaro's with huge rear tires and normal front tires gets my vote as worst look ever.
