Who's the go to for cylinder head work?

I used to use r&m in ypsi, but the old man has passed sometime in the last 8 years. I'm looking at a used set of afr 165's and I'm sure they will need a good go through. Figure valve job and guides, definitely needs springs and locks and retainers for me too, and hell why not mill them a little. I want to know if they'd be feasible to buy at the price the guy wants for em too. I think it's a little high (he wants a grand basiacilly) and they are the afr 1400 emission heads. I was wanting the outlaw heads at first too, but if these are ok, I wouldn't mind picking them up. These will be my first "race head" as I've only ever ran stock heads in the past. Wanna make the jump.

Any suggestions?

1k is a lot if they need that much work and they are still emission heads
I’d pass honestly

Greg’s cylinder heads on fort st used to be good.

My man Ray passed away.

Dave Petit is Monroe is a bad man, but usually has a long wait.

I’d look at finding a 10% coupon for summit or jegs and buy new.

Yeah. I may just look at new. 2k is a lot to spend, but I know I'd like em. Lol! I may see if afr will mill em for me when they build them too. I know those guys will have me hooked up by the time I send the card info over the phone.

I have AFR 185s that are CNC race ported. LOVE THEM!! I would go new just in case there is some hidden thing with them. My 2 cents.

Yeah the hidden thing woulda been the valve guides and everything else new. I'm on board with you on the new. What do you have your 185's on?

I did read your sig right after I asked. Lol, my bad. I've just got a baby 306, seen so far that 165's are better power than 185's on small motors. I know someone who has 185's for $500. Almost justifies building a Windsor to use them at that point.

I'm only wanting 11.50's out of this car though. Kinda just been my goal. I'll spray it one day when I get bored I'm sure and put it in the 10's but for now, I'd be very very happy going 11.50, then I'd move on to a new car.

I think I know someone who uses Dave petit. He's a mud and sand drag guy.

Lots of Dave's. Lol. Where is he located at? I'm actually just thinking about keeping the heads I have now and just getting springs installed on them. The car is gonna be a bracket car anyways, sportsman class on sundays. I'll keep these heads, make them right for a little while, and I'll keep looking for the heads I want for the right price. I appreciate all of your help!
