Hey guys. Recently bought an original owner (guy is in mid 50's) 1989 Mustang GT 5.0/5-speed car from California. I drove it home from California (2,200 miles) and have driven it around town a little since. Now has 122,000. It should be noted that it still has the original brakes and they are in good shape!!! The guy used to drive 90 miles one-way to work and he put 100,000 miles on it like this before he started using it as recreational vehicle. At that point, he added a few mods:
- 3.55 gear
- Clutch
- Shorty headers
- h-pipe (still have original h-pipe)
- flowmasters
- dual electric fans
- Chrome ponies
- Speedline? lowering springs
- Small stereo system with better speakers and an amp along with a small 10" woofer in back
Car is in really good shape for being 25 years old. Interior is like new and paint looks great. He worked nights at Home Depot so most of the time that the car seen outside was at night. When he was home it sat in the garage. There is no rust on the car! The car hasn't been butchered up either. About a clean a platform as you will find these days.
Since I bought it, I've added or done the following:
- Door and hatch weatherstrips
- Door and hatch striker/bushing kits
- Hatch struts and new rubber bumpers
- Door handles
- Door lock actuator
- Window motor
- Ashtray repair kit
- 130amp alternator with 2 gauge charging cable kit
- Motorsport B-springs
- Alignment
and probably a few other things I'm forgetting. Basically, I replaced stuff that wasn't working right or was worn to bring the car to like new condition.
I didn't have any intention of selling at the time, but my priorities have changed so I'm planning to let this go and focus on my race car. Check out the pics in the link below----1st three pics are at new ride height as it was wayyyy to low before. Thoughts?
