What's it worth...somewhat older macbook

I have a macbook from 2008 (not a pro). has 160mb hard drive, 4gig ram, 2.4 ghz intel core 2 duo, mac osx 10.6.8. No issues, good battery still, good physical shape, it's white and I have yet to clean it but it will prolly have a couple minor cosmetic flaws. Only reason for selling is I just bought a windows laptop as I need it for some new software I'm gonna try, and since all I've been using the mac for is internet anyways, I dont need both. So what's this thing worth about? I'll be looking to sell within the next week or so after I transfer over everything I need from it.

What you looking to get out of it. My daughter wanted a mac and I just cant see spending $1000 for a 5 year old.

Not trying to ruin your sale but why not just load windows? Those specs will run XP or Win7 fine.

Is it a unibody MacBook or does it have the grey palm rest? The unibody is all white one piece lower and a little more curvy then the older ones. These were the last plastic MacBook sold.

The unibody in nice shape around $350.

The older ones with the grey palm rest that chips along the edges go for $250-300 depending on condition.

I have 2 08ish macbooks one I bought new...... Lasted until a few months ago. It can be saved but I'm unsure how to do it. So I bought another macbook pro from a computer store with warranty for 250. They had about 5 to pick from. I loaded the batteries till I found the one with the lowest number of cycles on it.

What's the big difference between this one and my late '08 MacBook Pro? All of his basic tech specs match mine, so other than an aluminum case, is there anything else?

From your description its a unibody, it is all white and rather curvy.

Rye I dunno what the difference would be other than the case? Something I forgot to add was my screen is only a 13.3", I think the pro is bigger isn't it? When I bought it I had some graduation money so I upgraded it a bit, hence why it has similar stats to your pro.

Maybe that's it then. Mine is more of the base model and a 15".

Yeah i think mine was originally saposed to come with a 2.0 ghz duo and 2gig ram. But still, yours being bigger screen and better case should deff sell for more still.

Random question, anyone know if I were to get an external hard drive could I use that to load all my music and video's and what not onto off my mac and then transfer to this pc?

Yes. I do that on both of mine. I have the 1TB Seagate Backup Plus. You'll want to read up a little bit on it because the drive has to be formatted differently for windows vs. OSX. The drive I got comes with a program that works as an interface between OSX and the hard drive itself so it will work on both systems without issue. Without a program like that, or reformatting to FAT32, you would only be able to 'read' on OSX and not 'write' to the drive (this is assuming you leave it how it comes formatted for windows.)

Short answer is yes. The Seagate Backup Plus in any size will come with the program you need and is very easy to use.
