well i have mostley just arc welded with friends and took a small course..and ill be honest i hate arc welding..its a pain in the ass lol but then once i got the hang of it,it wasnt that bad..but i like mig the most, what do you guys like?

I like Mig for tacking and prefer Tig for most jobs, I guess it really depends on what you working on. I used to enjoy blazing and actually got to do lead filling on a 69 dodge pick up for a buddy.

nothing looks better than tig, my brother is a fabricator for Roush and he lays down some nice aluminum tig welds

jt351's cage on his mustang is done in mig and looks like tig. I've never seen such a nice mig weld.

I personally have never welded. I'll learn soon enough...

arc is fun.. i just got my pipe cert last year for that..

took a ton of tig and arc classes and am pretty good.. I just cant afford a good tig welder.. If i buy one i want a water cooled tip and nice tower set-up from miller but there like 14K for a nice one..

so i've become content with the lil lincoln mig i got..

I like to MIG weld at this point... next month I am buying the Lincoln
Power-TIG225 then we'll see what I can do after alot of practice.

I can MIG...but prefer TIG as it typically looks much cleaner.

I use the MIG for stuff you can't see or to tack until I can get it TIG'd.

what the heck is your definition of nice? :) why would you need a tower set up?

you could get a brand new miller 200dx with a water cooled torch and everything else you need for about 4k......

or you could get a thermal arc 185 with everything for less than 2400...its air cooled, but for most work that's fine as long as you can be patient...an ac/dc inverter tig for less than 2400 with everything but the bottles, that's not too bad
