I currantly have 28"x14.50-15 Hoosier quick time pro's and want to know from some of you vetrens on what tire to replace these with for running on the street. Big block car, need some traction lol.:ugh2:

I used to have a 85' GT with a 460 in it. No mater what tire was on it, it never hooked. It would spin on the leave, the front end would still come up, then hook, then the front end would come down and then unload the rear tires, causing the car to spin again. After 6 months of that on the street I sold the car and went back to the smallblocks. I wish you luck.

Go with a full slick, but the weight on the front could be your problem like hatchback said. I ran Hoosiers when my car went high tens and it worked well on the street. Im a small block though. I run et drags now.

Plenty of BB mustangs getting it done. Contact someone like PRE or Team Z for some help. You will save yourself a lot of time and headaches.

Just my $.02.....

That's a suspension/chassis problem not a tire issue.

Reiters metal craft has built dozens of BBC mustangs. None of them have had issues at the track. It's not the BB, it's not the tire, it's the CHASSIS.

Hes talking about the street, its hard to transfer weight on the street with a nose heavy car. Alot of the guys from midwest use BIG hoosier slicks on the street with good success.

You are nothing to get anything with the torque of a bb to hook dead on a street. You are wasting your time and tires trying. Now a prepped street is different.

Seen plenty of high hp/tq cars hook just from a vht burnout. Mine going low tens off the trans brake would lift the tires on the street. And I have stock 4banger suspension on the front and rear. How much power is this bigblock making?

I beleive I have good suspension, QA1 adjustable struts, qa1 k member and a-arms, four link bars fully adjustable heims both ends, qa1 fully adjustable coilover rear shocks and so on, tires are wore out need to replace them so it sounds like Hoosier is the tire of choice again, which ones? thanks guys, I may just have to take a trip down to team z when I get tires on it. How long do ya think it would take, couple of hours to set up? Thanks again

626 hp/568ft lbs at the crank, its not really radical but runs very well.

that should be no problem on any full slick with the right tuning of the suspension. You shouldn't need more then a 28x10.5 MT

just because they are fully adjustable does that mean they are adjusted right? i always ran mickey thompson slicks on the street and they work well. with alot more power than your putting out.

Yeah but you problem only made like 2 passes ever on the street though LOL j/k

I know that, just saying that I should be able to tune to get traction, car was scaled and set up for small block but now I stuffed a bigblock in it and the extra weight obviously upset the car. Again I am new to this drag racing set-ups and was hoping to get some pointers on what to possibly do to offset the weight before I load it up and trailer it 2 hrs or so just to let someone else set it up. which may happen. I will just drive it for now and work on it and maybe read some books.

talk with someone and figure out what to try, many of our sponsors will be able to help out. I'm no suspension wiz but pinion angle and amount of drop your shocks take in front have alot to effect.
