i've been surfing ebay, and i was wanting to get a fidanza one, but i see on ebay, theres these f1 racing ones that you can pick up for like 200 bucks shiped.

they all say there sfi 1.1 or 1.5, so i would think they'd be fine. but im kinda affraid of the weird name. theres a coupla others on there like eclutchmaster.com ones that make the same claims.

im just affraid of haveing it blow apart. i am useing a lakewood blowproof bell, but i still dont want it to happen, just not a experience i wanna go threw.

anyone have any suggestions for me?

I had a ram billet steel flywheel in mine when I had the 5 speed. Never had a problem with it. It depends on what kind off power your car is pushing and most importantly how much you are wanting to spend. If I would have known that I would have saved my mine for ya. It was basically like new and I think I let it go for like $100 bucks.

less rotational mass, ie faster revs, easier to match revs upon shifts.

on a side note, i had one in my car for all of 20 miles. i HATED the way it acted on the street. taking off from a light I had to rev the engine so high everyone thought i was constantly racing them. "so high" meaning at least 500-1000rpms more than i would have if i wanted to get going at the same rate as my billet steel flywheel. on a track car they are great, not for me on the street though.

i had the fidanza, worked great but wasnt what i wanted

i was wanting one for the reasons that avbcon stated.
less wear and tear on things, less vibration, and in a snese it would feel like it had more power.

but, now that avb said what he just said, abut the driveability of it, i wasnt even thinking about that.

avbcon, how do you like your billet steel one?

and, damn you jake. lol.
no big deal. you still wanting those mufflers?

bassically, i leave the starting line anywhere between 5000-6200 rpm, and am just looking out for my feet. thats why i wanna get away from the stocker.

thanks guys for the help.

If you want to drag race with it then get a steel FW. It will leave the line harder (more stored energy) and drop fewer revs between shifts.

Who cares about the 5 or so hp it will rob you of when compared to an aluminum unit.

Sell them Rob. Things are tough for me right now and I'm holding off on alot of things for the time being. You shouldn't have any problem selling them for what you were asking. Sorry.

Harder is not always better. When I had a 5 speed in my car and switched to aluminum flywheel I pickup up .15 in my 60'.(mid 1.5's to low 1.4's-high 1.3s) Hitting the tires softer helped alot with my car, plus it didn't feel like it was breaking the car when I let the clutch go.

It did suck on the street even with it being a big inch W with a flat torque curve, I couldn't imagine driving a 302 car with an aluminum flywheel.

Good point. I need all the help I can get though, my car is a pig. With a lightweight Fox I agree, a steel unit might be too much.

i could really see it helping if you were driveing on dr's. i do drive mine on the street alot. like once a day atleast when the weather is good. shit, last summer i was driveing it about 200 miles a week, along with track time. i think a billet steel one might be my best choice, and cheaper.

thanks everyone for the help, im just glad i asked before i bought.

I love my billet steel piece. SFI rated (safe) and still has the rotational mass i want on the street/ track. my revs dont drop as fast between shifts as they did with the aluminum flywheel which is nice. if i wanted to match revs every time i shifted it might not be as nice but having the rotational mass/ inertia there with a heavier unit is perfect for me

I have a Fidnaza flywheel and it weighs in at 13.5 lbs compaired to the stock one which is 23.5 lbs. You'll need the lighter rotating mass for the higher RPM's your wanna turn. I leave off the 2step at 7600 rpm
