I need to buy a new tranny, the one I have is not broke, but it is not a racing tranny by any means, it is the tranny from the original car I got the motor from , Ive been looking at PA c4 with a trans brake , what are your thoughts car guru's, o ya its 474 C.I. and it needs to be streetable...and what convertor????

IMO< the pa unit has some very nicely machined features. the brake works fairly well, some problems with creeping. jtp also has extensive machine work and has been building c-4s since the 1800's i think, and Joel's offers a c-4 with some good reviews. the stuff from dynamic is junk. pa has done a good marketing job and offers some form of warranty, the catch is you will need the warranty. c-4s just do not hold up well. sure, lots of people run them, even some really fast (7sec)cars. just look inside their trailer. they carry 8-10 units with them.
if you want the car to be fast, consistent, and free of failures, run a glide. even on pa's web site, they say if you have a lot of hp, you need to run a glide. i know, some of you die hard ford guys would Never run a gm product in your ford. the truth hurts. My specialty is piecing together all the pieces needed for a application like yours, along with convincing the customer to spend his money on something that will last and make their vehicle faster.
pm me if you have questions-rich

Kevin I would tell you to run a c4 w/brake 4000 conv. If your only going to race it use a glide w/brake 5000 conv. I have had JPT trans only had trouble with it now have P/A. It's driven on the street. As detroit gearbox said fast cars run glides. Tom :3gears:

I need best of both worlds lol, I built this car for both reasons street and strip, when I say street that dont mean im gonna drive it everywhere, I mean drive it to the car shows etc, or just for a cruise ya know what I mean..but when Im at the track I dont wanna come up short....

I would run a glide sounds like your going to the strip more than 3-4 times, also your going to spray? Tom:3gears:

I'd say the 400 also, those fit great in a Mustang and they're bullet proof. They're much stronger than the C4 and use less power than the C6.

the C6 is a bad bitch requires no adapters and can be made plenty stout. I would not pass it over as a trans choice.

Yep. Th400 and be done with it. I make a pretty wicked 2.10 first {big engine/little tires} for them or a 2.75 first if you just want to fry tires on command. I'd run a 9'' converter {fast like a 8'', but driveable} stall depends on cam spec's at .050, vehicle weight, rear gear ratio, engine compression, carb size, and your max shift rpm.

He's got a 13K+?? paint job on the car, he can afford the OD unit! :D

Lol, ok I am stumped on this th 400 trans, I have never heard of it till now I just looked it up on Jegs, which one is it ?? I dont plan on racing this thing every weekend so I dont need to go top of the line with this, A nice quality 3 speed trans will do me just fine, If I could get something nice between 2 or 3 grand complete that would be nice...
