What is a good car battery these days?

My interstate battery is crapping out in my Cherokee after 7 years. What can I get at pep boys or autozone that is good?

GMB batterys are pretty good. USA made in baltimore maryland and generally pretty reliable. they make a ton of batterys private label.

I've seen more Optimas go bad then Neverstarts  Maybe the older Optimas were good, but definately not the new ones. Over priced piles of steaming poo poo

Well. I personally prefer a nice beer batter... But some people prefer the quick and easy method of a bisquick batter.. Or theres always a nice home made buttermilk or cornmeal batter... I think to answer your question we need to know how you're going to cook your car?

Damn, they'll deep fry anything these days.

:D

I've had no luck with the red Duralasts. Bought one, year later, dead, warranteed it, year later, dead. Punt.

Who really doesn't think Optimas are junk? I never hear anything good about that.

Nothing but smart-asses... lol (I typed it on my phone last night)

Optimas are out, I already have one (red) and like it but it's in the mustang and I hear more bad things about the recent incarnations of it.

Duralast gold then?

Optimas are garbage

x4. I had red tops in both my Buick and my Cobra. I had to replace them every spring. Autozone would only replace them 3 years after I purchased them, NOT 3 years of the battery age. I have 2 of them under 3 years old sitting in my garage that are dead.

I will never buy another Optima again!

I had a Red Top back in 2000 and it was great. I had ~3500w of stereo on it and would use my headlights to light basketball courts for over an hour and it never even flinched when it came time to start. Sucks to heard they are junk now. I also had a duralast gold in an Aspire and I had to crank on that thing for about 15 mintues in <30' weather and it didn't give up.

Optimas are garbage. Every single one we get in here is dead, they won't take charges. I've cored every one, no matter what color. I don't know why people waste they're money.

I get TONS of batterys in here. I see 45-55 cars per month. Most of the ones that we resell are Interstate, AC Delco, Motorcraft, Die Hard. Duralasts are 50/50....some are good, while others won't hold a charge. We only sell batteries that are hot and tested.

Many offbrand batteries are junk. They rarely take a charge, let alone hold one.
