im throwing together a street car real quick but unsure of what size converter to use its just a 306 f cam, afr 205 cc vic. jr intake 175 shot....
4:10 gear with moser 4 lug c clip elimators aluminum drive shaft... anyways what converter would be best for this... this is only a temporary set up till next year but till then i still wanna be able to have fun... can some one help me?

We put a TCI super street fighter in my buddies set up with a little more cam and Trick flow 170 heads. It went 4200 on the brake. Worked great on spray and didn't break the bank. But those heads are gonna kill your torque and may not stall the converter, specially with 4.10 gears. Change to a 373 and let the spray stall the converter, it may work like shit on motor though.

We used that same converter on a way over headed and cammed 302. It only hit 2800 on the brake, and 2200 on foot brake, but pulled right to 3900 once the spray came on. 4200 on a good day with 250 in it. 60' 1.3x like that too...3.73 gear and 28" tires.

damn, so are you sayin my heads are too big for the motor i have right now? man i wish i had some buddies that lived closer so they could help me with this shit... you guys got this shit down to a science lol to me its like walkin outta spanish clash expected to fully speak it lol so bare with me hear im learnin im smashin out suspension and drivetrain work at the same time by myself lol...... any advice on who to have tie the frame rails on the car and put a cage in?

well its a c4, im not will to spend no more than like 700 at the very most to do a lil bit to the trans possibly add a brake to it im basically shoppin if i can find the better deal then thats what ima go with

I put a PTC 3200 stall converter in my car and the thing loved it. It wasnt that expensive in comparison to others with the same shit. It stalled alil of 32 on motor and at 42 on spray. I called the guy, told him wat my combo was and he set it up for my app and had it to me within 3 days. 256-383-6868 is their number

If it has stock replacement .030" over pistons, you will not have piston to valve clearance.

Yes, those heads are ALOT for a small cube motor, depending on supporting stuff. I had a PTC in my car, and loved it. Call them and give them teh combo and they can set you up with a converter. But it's gonna be upwards of 550 and higher to get one from PTC i think.

Fugg that throw some Nitrous on it and you'll love those heads.

lol yeah i planned on throwin a fogger on it

If those are hypereutectic pistons you may wanna take it easy on the nitrous and on a side note If those heads dont work out for you ive got a set of ported trick flow 170's off a certain green notch on here that work pretty good on a smaller engine that id be willing to put some cash with on a trade now that im upping my displacement

I was gonna say this too. KB pistons aren't usually set up to handle spray. Most of thier line up is heavy hyperutectic(sp) We've hit them with 175, but i'd say that's there limit being VERY SAFE on the tune.

I am happy with my PTC. Give them a call and tell them what your combo is and they will set you up.

yeah i wrecked a nice set of heads thanks to a lean 150 shot on those

Lean in a nitrous tune will not hurt anything. What makes them break is too much timing. I've sprayed my car on accident with the nitrous fuel pump not turned on.. That's NO fuel at all and a 108 jet on nos side thru a big shot plate. Only thing it did was lay over and act like a lazy sob, too much timing = broke pistons
not enough fuel and correct timing = turd.

Most guys run they're timing heavy on nos by mistake/lack of knowledge and get away with it cuz they tune them fat as fuck which eventually lifts the ring lands and breaks the pistons.

I have a brand new Coan 8" with anti-ballooning plates prob would stall around 4500-5000 behind that motor. This is for a C4 let me know if your interested
