what a mess of a storm!

So there i was doing yard work at my moms (west bloomfield) and within 5 minutes rolls in this storm with (what had to have been) 70+mph winds. ripped down a 60 foot tree in her backyard! it knocked the secondary power line on the ground (on our pool fence), all other lines too. oddly enough the primary power line is holding the tree at a 45 degree angle, with any wind like that again it will come down for sure!

the fire department came out and taped the entire area off, DTE still has yet to show up. were waiting for another gust of wind to come and know the tree down the rest of the way crushing a lot of stuff in its path. we also have like 4 other 60+ foot dead ash trees waiting to fall too.

that was one hell of a storm, was over in about 15 minutes (round one).

i took a few pics, ill try to get them up tonight.

there is more coming your way.

it was bad here for awhile today as well. its that time of year and Im just waiting for my neighbors tree to snap off and land in my house.

I asked them already to cut it down (its hanging on my property and I get all the mess and shade!)

maybe their home owners will pay for my new roof when this happens and it will...hope Im not in this room when it does..

:scared:

Just as i opened this thread and started reading it, it started POURING outside.....thats ok tho, my grass is fucked and i need the rain.

yeah, the shit of it is, the dead trees ARE the neighbors! we are beyond pissed because weve been trying to get them to cut them down ever since they died 6-8 years ago. they refuse to spend the money.

I had mud all over, now I just have floating lawn chairs and drift wood moving about in my yard.

The government should take action and control mother nature.... :-D

I just finished hanging a storm door 'cause the winter wasn't kind, but anyway, I was caulking and all of a sudden, WHAM! crazy rain. Finished just in time. Hope the caulk isn't messed up from the water on it when it was still wet. I was gonna throw down some grass seed also, but didn't make it.

i got a cal from DTE late last night saying theyll get on it, almost as if they were on their way. well, the line is still on the ground/pool fence and the tree is still there when i woke up this morning.

oh well, i guess there are like 300,000 without power.

the funny thing is, the comcast line is drooping badly and my home phone and internet are out but my cable TV still works!! haha

My friends and I were kayaking in milford when this beast rolled in. It was "extreme kayaking" At least we were able to hide under a low bridge for 45 minutes. Gave me more time to drink beer.

Yeah, our power went out around 2:15pm and beer drinking commenced at 2:16pm thank god for beer, ice, coolers, steak and gas grilles.

I was driving in that crap on my way to a concert. It was so windy that it was blowing dirt around that I thought was going to sandblast the paint right off my car.

the tree that fell is the one to the left of the chimney (right side of the house over the garage). this picture was taken 30 seconds before the storm hit and the tree fell. notice all the other dead trees (some are 80ft) above the house, they are all our neighbors who refuse to do anything with them!
