Welding....

So I bought a cheap harbor freight mig welder for $100. It is a gas free 90amp welder and came with some flux core wire.

Overall I am very happy with the purchase. I had to fix a weld that a shop did and refused to fix, so I figured instead of paying another $75 and waiting for a shop to fix it, I would just get my own welder cause the deal was so good.

Well it's been an awesome little welder, I've been able to do some side jobs in welding a muffler for somebody and was able to easily fix my shoddy welds on my car.

Now my problem is I am trying to patch a small hole in the rear of my catback, where it goes over the rear end. It is a magnaflow stainless catback and there is a quarter size hole where the bracket snapped off and took some of the catback with it.

I am trying to weld on a piece of steel to the stainless and I'm not having much luck, but a lot of splatter.

Am I going to be able to use this welder to patch this hole?

you can weld it but with out useing stainless wire it will not melt as well and will break again.if your gonna do it regardless make sure its as clean as you can get it then weld it
