Looking for a good place to buy a wedding ring, it has been 10 years and the original one has seen its better days, I am just trying to get the best price for what I am getting, and not go to one of the ripoff mall chains, preferably in the downriver area,

Have you considered having something custom made? For example, you can use the metals from the old ring to create a new one.

I know an excellent jeweler/artist in Birmingham who's prices are very reasonable.

That's definitely not the downriver area but if this is something that you would be interested me, let me know and I'll give you his contact info.

Dated a girl who's family has a nice shop in northville. Thats where I would get my stuff.

I'm glad you said no malls. Those places are a joke. 10K for a ring that has no shine and sold to you buy a 17 year old girl that has no clue about diamonds. I went downtown to a jewlery my family has dealt with for over 20 years and he gave me great quality, great service and a great price.

The first thing mall places ask is "How much do you wanna spend?" Fuck that!!! This guy I went to didn't ask that; matter of fact, the first day I was there we didn't even talk price. Instead, he took his time explaining everything about diamonds, their history, his business ect... If you are interested I can do the PM thing. His store is small and appears as if he has nothing there, but he does. He can even get or build anything you want from any website for a lot less.

There is a guy named Raul that sells stuff on the corner of Cass & Mack in Detroit. He could probably get you a really nice ring for $200. You may need to get it resized though...

As long as he is open during the weekend I am interested, will be probably be buying within a month, I just want to take my time though and find what is right,

You can talk to Andy (loosenut) on here. If you have a ring idea he can get you a quote. He can even have custom stuff done. I was just talking to him about some ideas on Friday when we were all on WW. Send him a PM.
